You asked: What are Godfreys' delivery charges?

We answered: Delivery charges in Mainland UK including VAT are as follows:

Orders under £100……… £5
Orders over £100……… Free
Next working day delivery for items under £100……… £10*
Next working day delivery for items over £100……… £5*

*Next working day delivery is available on products (except oudoor furniture and some larger garden machinery products), providing that they are in stock. We will notify you immediately if we cannot provide a next day delivery. In order to secure a next day delivery you will need to select the next day delivery option at the checkout and we will need to receive the order by 1pm.

Saturday deliveries are available, but please contact us by phone - 01732 749660 - if this is required. You will be advised of additional charges that may apply to a Saturday delivery.

We can also quote for delivery of orders outside the UK mainland - please call us on 01732 749660.

You asked: How long will it take for my goods to be delivered?

We answered: We aim to deliver within 2-3 working days on all orders received before 4pm (unless you have opted for a next day delivery). You will be advised of the delivery details as soon as we have dispatched your order to our carrier company. We will advise you by email if we are not able to delvier within the 2-3 day delivery timescale and you will be given the option to cancel your order if this does not suit. If we are out of stock we are generally able to obtain new supplies within very short timescales.

Some large garden machinery items (such as ride on lawn tractors) and all garden furniture have longer delivery timescales. However, we always aim to deliver within 14 days on these items. We will contact you as soon as we receive your order to confirm delivery.

You asked: Are prices inclusive of VAT?

We answered: All prices quoted are inclusive of VAT (if applicable). The only possible additional charge above the price quoted for the item is a carriage charge of £5 on orders with a total value of under £100 and an optional additional charge for a next day delivery. The VAT element of each purchase is clearly detailed on the Godfreys invoice.

You asked: What payment methods does Godfreys accept?

We answered: Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Switch, Solo, JCB and Maestro are all accepted as methods of payment. All transactions are in pounds sterling.

You asked: Who will deliver my goods?

We answered: We use a number of different carriers for our goods. Most of the smaller items will arrive via one of the national carriers. Our larger garden machinery items will be delivered by our specialist carriage/distribution partners. 

You asked: What do I do if I need to contact you about a delivery?

We answered: If you have any queries relating to the delivery of your order you can contact us on 01732 749660 between 8.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Saturday or email us sales@godfreys.com.

You asked: Does Godfreys guarantee its products?

We answered: Godfreys takes great care to ensure that all the products featured on this website are of the highest quality. As part of our commitment to quality our tool supplier provides a 1 year guarantee on all Hand tool products on this website provided that they have been used, at all times, in the correct manner. However, in many cases, due to the exceptional quality of the products, the manufacturers will give much longer guarantees on their products. As far as Power tools are concerned we follow the manufacturer's policy, details of which will be included with the product. If a product is faulty and under guarantee you should follow the procedures detailed below. As regards lawnmowers, garden machinery, garden tools, outdoor furniture and barbecues we follow the manufacturer's guarantee policies, details of which will be included with the product.

You asked: Can I return my goods if I change my mind?

We answered: You may, if you wish, cancel your order for any reason within 30 days starting on the day after you receive the goods. To do this you will need to notify us that you wish to do this, specifying the order number of the order to be cancelled. If you do this we may ask you to pay the cost of returning the goods to us but, but apart from this, the whole of your money will be returned to you within 30 days of such cancellation. The goods must be unused and in their original condition and packaging.The above 30 day "cooling off period" does not apply if goods have been custom made to your requirements - for example, outdoor furniture.

You asked: How do I return goods and obtain refunds?

We answered:

We aim to provide you with as much information as we can about each product so that you can make an informed purchasing decision and our customer service advisors are always willing to discuss your requirements over the telephone (01732 749660) prior to purchase. However, to give you additional confidence, we will allow you to return your item if it is not what you require within 30 days of receipt as long as it has not been used and is returned in its original packaging. However, this does not apply to items which have been supplied to your customised requirements (such as outdoor furniture). Return of the goods will be at your own cost. Please call us on 01732 749660 if you wish to return your goods. 

Upon receipt of the item(s) we will refund the full value of the item(s) subject to them being unused and in their original condition and packaging.

Item damaged, faulty or incorrectly supplied:

If an item has been incorrectly supplied, received damaged or is faulty then all you need to do is follow the Returns Procedures detailed above. We will then arrange collection of the item(s) free of charge. Upon receipt of the item(s) we will refund the full value of the goods and any carriage costs.

You asked: What do I do if I have a complaint?

We answered: We want all our customers to be delighted with our service. We therefore treat complaints very seriously. We have strict internal procedures for dealing promptly with any complaints our customers may have. If you have any complaints, comments or suggestions as to how we can improve then please contact kate@godfreys.com.

Your complaint will be treated fairly, confidentially and with respect.

You asked: How secure is Godfreys' website?

We answered: Godfreys have taken a great deal of care to ensure that any personal information you send us remains totally confidential. All credit card information is encrypted when it is transferred over the internet using SSL encryption. All personal information is held on a Secure Server and will not be used in any way without your express permission. You asked: What happens if an item is out of stock?

We answered: Godfreys tries very hard to ensure that the products featured on this website are in stock, except some higher value and/or bespoke items which are sourced direct from the manufacturers/distributors. However, despite our best endeavours, some items may be temporarily out of stock due to either production difficulties or unexpected demand. If this is the case, you will be informed as to the expected delay, and given the opportunity to wait for the goods ordered to arrive, to cancel the order or to order the nearest possible alternative.

You asked: How does Godfreys protect my personal information?

We answered: Godfreys respects the need to protect your privacy. In order to process your orders and to provide you, if required, with details of those orders at a later stage we do need to collect a certain amount of personal data. Our policy is to collect and retain only the information we require to enable us to carry out our obligations to you and, for the avoidance of doubt, we have detailed below the information we retain.

When you place an order with Godfreys we collect the following information:

a) Personal Details
Your E-Mail Address, Daytime Telephone Number, Home Address and Post Code and Delivery Address and Post Code. This information enables us to process your orders and to advise you of the status of your orders.

A Password. The first time you order you are asked to register by entering a password. This password enables us to identify you when you revisit our Website. The benefits to you are that, by entering your password, you do not need to re-enter your address details when you re-order.

Your Credit Card Details i.e. Credit Card Type, Number, Expiry Date etc. This information is sent to us in an encrypted form and is stored on a secure server. This information enables us to process your order. This sensitive information is held only as long as necessary for us to meet our obligations to you and the credit card companies.

Contract Information and Governing Law
A contract is formed between you and Godfreys only when you have received confirmation that your order has been accepted and you are notified of the order number on the screen and by email. You asked: Why should I opt for a rear roller mower rather than a four wheeled version?

We answered: If you like a classical, formal striped effect to your lawn, you should choose a mower with a rear roller. As the mower cuts the grass, the roller travels over it and flattens the grass in one direction, which gives the classic stripy effect. The roller also gives you the ability to cut over the edge of the lawn. The four wheeled mower will give you a more relaxed, family style lawn without the stripy effect. You asked: I have a large garden which includes an area of fairly good lawn that is well maintained and then a rougher orchard area. What kind of mower do you recommend?

We answered:

For a garden greater in size than one tennis court and with an orchard/paddock area, you should consider a lawn tractor particularly the John Deere range of lawn tractors. They take all the hard work out of mowing and can cope with different types of grassed areas. They also have a number of features such as the ability to mulch grass and collect or discharge grass clippings. They can also take a range of attachements for different garden tasks. You asked: Petrol or electric lawn mower? Which one should I choose?

We answered: Electric mowers are a great option for the smaller garden as the electric lead will restrict full movement. They tend to be relatively compact and quiet in use and there is no need to make trips to the petrol station for petrol. However, they cannot be used in wet conditions. Petrol mowers are more powerful than electric mowers and perfect for the larger garden. As they are cordless, petrol mowers have complete manoeuvrability and there is a wide range of different models available. You asked: Do you have long reach as well as short reach hedge cutters?

We answered: Balancing on a wobbly ladder to reach up to the top of a high hedge with a heavy hedgecutter is not a great idea. If you have a high or deep hedge then you should opt for a long reach trimmer which allows you to trim your hedges safely from the ground. You asked: I need to cut brush as well as grass, what do you recommend?

We answered: You should opt for a brushcutter rather than a strimmer. They are heavier duty and able to cope with very rough areas and deep undergrowth. Take a look at our brushcutter range.

You asked: I want a contemporary look to my outdoor furniture. What do you recommend?

We answered: Barlow Tyrie who for years have made the best in teak furniture, have recently branched out into mixed materials. You asked: How weather resistant is your outdoor furniture?

We answered:

Barlow Tyrie teak furniture weathers outside over time with the teak changing to a silver grey colour due to the effect of the ultra violet rays in sunlight. However, you do not need to put your teak furniture under cover during winter months. It is resistant to rotting when exposed to extremes of weather. Barlow Tyrie's stainless steel furniture has a higher resistance to rust than lower grades and is therefore suitable for use in coastal and marine environments. The aluminium used in some of its furniture is also strong and long lasting and as it is powder coated this prevents oxidation and ensures long service. The textilene and jacquatex PVC coated fabrics used on some of the chair slings of Barlow Tyrie's mixed material ranges are strong, durable, mildew resistant, flame-retardant and require little maintenance. You asked: Does food cooked on a gas barbecue taste as good as that cooked on a charcoal barbecue?

We answered: Weber, the barbecue experts say that tests indicate that there is no significant difference in taste. However, some people really enjoy the cooking experience with charcoal. Others appreciate the convenience of a gas barbecue. It all comes down to personal preferences!

You asked: Other than power source, what are the differences between corded and cordless drills?

We answered: Corded drills (electric) tend to have more power for tougher jobs and you do not have the problem of the battery running out.
